Compressed Natural Gas

Inexpensive alternative for CNG fuel management, OEM in private fleet, high-pressure application saves time and money. Private fleet operators/ OEM looking for a simple, cost-effective alternative to expensive, commercial fueling stations in order to cut costs associated with fueling vehicles on-site with CNG (compressed natural gas) dispensers.

Results:

Time savings

• Higher throughput – even in compressed, high-pressure applications – Coriolis flow meter handles high pressures up to 5000psig.

Cost savings

• No longer is there a need to purchase expensive commercial fueling stations – this cost-effective solution is under $10K.

• Through improved internal accounting, bottom-line is increased.

• With higher accuracy and repeatability, fleet operators and drivers receive exact amount of fuel consumed for internal accounting.

Safe in hazardous areas

• PIUSI MC BOX control panel does not have Ex-approvals, but when installed in a safe area, has the ability to switch a solenoid valve ON/OFF for dispensing.

• Control panel can manage external level switch in case of low level input.

• Hazardous meter approved – the CNGmass has worldwide accepted Ex-approvals – fulfills EMC requirements according to IEC.

61000 and NAMUR

• CNGmass is NTEP approved for natural gases up to 5000psig.

Saves space

• Compact flow body with a smaller footprint allows the CNGmass to be easily built into fleet fueling station.

Simple installation

• Without taking inlet or outlet runs into account, with the Coriolis flow meter, this means minimal intrusions on piping.

• Easy implementation in given installations – flowmeter connected directly into the supply line of filling post with the controller a safe distance away and located in a safe area.

Multiple signal outputs

• Operates using two pulse/frequency outputs (Digital integration is possible via MODBUS RS485).

The Challenge:

• Traditionally, fleet fueling has not been measured – only the total consumption of natural gas was measured at the gas supply side. Since this is only for internal allocation, private fleet operators need a simple, cost-effective measurement solution to measure consumption.

• To receive tax rebates, private fleet operators need to be able to account for how much fuel is being consumed at any given time.

 Solution:

• Endress+Hauser’s CNGmass Coriolis flowmeter.

• Pro Flow Dynamics fuel management engineered solution.

• PIUSI MC BOX multi-user control panel.

Solution details

By combining a Pro Flow Dynamics fuel management solution, which includes Endress+Hauser’s accurate coriolis mass flow measuring system, and a PIUSI MC BOX multi-user control panel, private fleet operators have a faster, cost effective alternative for natural gas allocation. To count and record the consumption of each vehicle and driver, Endress+Hauser’s CNGmass Coriolis flowmeter is installed in connection with the PIUSI MC BOX offered by Pro Flow Dynamics.

To measure consumption, a dual-fill post is installed. The PIUSI MC BOX enables the control of total fuel consumption. The PIUSI MC BOX calculates the consumption of each individual user (up to 120 users) by the means of i-button key or password, and through software installed in connection with the PIUSI MC BOX, data is populated and can be easily transferred to a PC for recording.

Endress+Hauser’s CNGmass 3/8” Coriolis flowmeter measures the consumption of natural gas dispensed at each fueling station by each vehicle.

How it works – Step-by-step:

1. Authorized users enter their pin code or their unique i-button user key into the small control box (PIUSI MC BOX) and a dispense will be initiated and then will be stored as soon as action is complete or until full.

2. MC BOX wired to a solenoid valve opens when a dispense is initiated at the key pad.

3. Panel manages directly switching ON and OFF to control the CNGmass meter – when depleted in ON position, the internal relay of MC BOX allows the valve to open for flow to enter, the mass meter sends a signal measuring the exact amount of flow being dispensed.

4. Through a time out process which can be set or adjusted – the relay will switch over and turn OFF solenoid valve once full. The MC BOX realizes this and stops flow from entering. Once valve is closed, the dispensed amount is saved in the MC BOX.

5. Using the red manager key, data is downloaded through i-button and transferred via USB-like manager key to be stored on a PC.

6. Via the installed software, data can be downloaded and stored to your server and the MC BOX is then wiped clean. Data such as date, time, pin code, truck number, driver name/user, amount of gallons, odometer reading, etc… is recorded and can be analyzed, printed, exported to Excel, Word and much more.

Diesel Fuel Management Systems

Yesterday, Monday, January 13th, the U.S. Energy Information Administration updated their reports, analysis, data, and projections regarding various types of fuels and energy sources.  The update that interested us at Pro Flow Dynamics the most was the report on U.S. On-Highway Diesel Fuel Prices.  According to the EIA, diesel fuel prices have decreased by about 2 cents per gallon since last week.  A year ago, prices were less than one penny higher.

Beware this comparison, though.

The year-to-date report can make it appear like diesel prices have been stable, but if you live, work, and drive in the United States, you know that fuel prices are fluctuating, at best.

On-Highway_Diesel_Fuel_Prices

How do you fuel up?  Do you drive to the corner gas station and buy your diesel there?  Do you fill your work truck on your work site?  Do you manage a fleet of trucks and make decisions based on fuel costs?

We might have the solution for you.

Pro Flow Dynamics is a distributor of PIUSI products.  Two of the items we carry are the CUBE 70MC and the MC Box.  If you’re looking for a way to manage your fuel, these two systems could be your answer.

The CUBE 70 MC Diesel Fuel Management System with Multi-user functionality has been designed and manufactured to cater to the demand for a compact diesel fuel dispenser for private use.  It is easy to install, ensures fast and precise dispensing and can only be used by qualified personnel.  That means that only your trucks can fill up at your pumps.  You can also designate how much fuel each truck can physically pump.

CUBE-MC_new

Dedicated software permits exporting data to a PC.  This will help you analyze your data.  You can see who is pumping, how much they are pumping, and control authorization.

The compact body of the Cube 70 contains the nozzle holder (complete with hose and nozzle), the pump, and the pulse meter.

The electronic unit of the Cube 70 is able to control up to 50 users, including by means of a magnetic key, and permits dispensing with pre-selection.  This is beneficial if you do not want to rely on number codes.  Each driver can be assigned a magnetic key to be used to unlock the fueling system.  Data can be downloaded into a PC both by means of the special red manager magnetic key and or by a hard wire cable connection.

CUBE 70 MC Diesel Fuel Management System can be fitted to a wall, directly on the tank by means of the quick coupling, or on a column.  In terms of low running costs, compact dimensions and flexibility, together with all-round efficiency, CUBE 70 MC is a truly unique dispenser.

Next, the MC Box Fuel Management System with Multi-user control panel has the capability to control and manage the consumption of fuel for the private and commercial user sector, up to 120 users.

MCBOX_0034

Its intelligent design allows the unit to be easily connected or added to both new and existing pumps providing low cost, simple, easy-to-use fuel management.

The MC Box is the perfect solution as an “add on” unit for existing pumps or where it is preferable to have the pumps and control panel installed in two different places.  For example, if you are already using a CUBE 70MC, the MC Box is an efficient way to increase your number of fueling stations.  The MC Fuel Management system consists of a dedicated multi-user panel with the option to connect to a PC.

Both of these Diesel Fuel Management Systems run off the MC Dispensing Data Software Kit.  This software kit, which is sold separately, can be used with all PIUSI products equipped with PC data interfaces (Cube 70MC, MC Box).

MC Box Software Kit

The software arranges dispensing data for analysis and print out. Data can be sent direct to a PC via cable or via an electronic key with memory and a key reader for connecting to PC.

MCBOX-Key_0040

You can customize your Diesel Fuel Management System by using one of our pedestal mounts or wall mounts.  The pedestal is ideal for setting up an independent fueling station.  The wall mount is ideal if you are expanding an existing fueling station.

How do these Systems work?  Why can they make an impact in your fueling costs?

Inside each Cube 70MC system is a pulse meter.  The oval gear pulse meters are designed to meet a wide range of product delivery measuring requirements in the private distribution of diesel fuel, lubricant, and low, medium and high viscosity liquids. The oval gear measuring principle adopted offers high precision and low pressure losses.

K600_2

A complete range of models is designed to satisfy all flow rate requirements.

Easy interfacing with control systems makes these pulse meters the ideal solution for equipping fuel delivery pumps for private use in stationary lubricant transfer/delivery systems, as meters for tank filling arms, for control of burner or power unit fuel consumption, and other industrial applications requiring fluid delivery control.

Even though the EIA reports that diesel fuel costs are decreasing, there is never a wrong time to analyze your fuel budget.  For businesses that rely on trucks, driving, mileage, and fuel efficiency, our Diesel Fuel Management Systems can help you analyze, track, and control your spending.
